Nuffic inviting Proposals for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

Nuffic is inviting proposals for the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) to facilitate the emergence of a community regional practice in the field of SDSR.

The call also aims to strengthen collaborative capacities, exchange and learning in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the sub-region, in accordance with the third axis of the Nuffic regional approach in the Sahel.

Objectives

  • The proposed project must contribute to the following objective:
    • Contribute to universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights [Objective Sustainable Development (SDGs) 3 and 5]
  • The proposed project must contribute to at least one of the following long-term impact (s):
    • Better information and greater freedom of choice for young people in matters of sexuality;
    • Improved public and private health care for family planning, pregnancies and childbirth, including safe abortions
  • The following medium-term impacts will help achieve these objectives:
    • The education system (TVET / SE) is of good quality, relevant and accessible (SDG 4)
    • Partnerships between people and organizations are inclusive and sustainable (SDG 17);
    • Organizations essential for inclusive (sectoral) development in partner countries are reinforced by the arrival of a more competent workforce.

The topics discussed in this community are related to the topic of Sexual Health and Rights and Reproductive in general. The topics developed are those that influence the implementation of this theme in the sub-region such as: the socio-cultural norms that contribute to the fragile position of women and mothers, lack of knowledge and expertise in SRHR and lack of access to (quality) health care for groups vulnerable such as young people and adolescents; community resilience; Health mental and psychosocial assistance; communication techniques and approaches specific for young people and adolescents: the role of men and opinion leaders.

The lead beneficiary organization and leader of the community of practice must be preferably based in Niger, Mali or Burkina Faso. If no organization is available or cannot be found in one of these three countries, a partnership with an organization of the Benin as the lead beneficiary organization is possible.

Maximum funding available for this call (excluding the co-financing): 400,000 EUR Maximum funding per project collaboration (excluding co-financing): 400,000 EUR

Eligibility Criteria

The following are eligible as principal applicant for the grant (i) Dutch institutions secondary and / or higher vocational and academic education or (ii) other types of Dutch organizations able to provide training and also contribute strengthening of priority themes in countries on the Country List are eligible for grants for OKP group training. These institutions must carry out the training themselves; intermediary organizations are not eligible. The institutions must have sufficient financial and organizational capacity to conduct training. They can prove it by means of a CECO which is judged positive by Nuffic. Organizations must also demonstrate their experience in providing the desired training.

To be eligible for a grant for OKP group training, an application must relate to the conduct of training for candidates who meet the criteria following:

  • Applicants work for one of the following types of national organizations and / or local: ministries, institutions for vocational or secondary academic education or higher, universities, private sector, commissions or NGOs. Applicants cannot work for:
    • a bilateral or multilateral organization;
    • a non-governmental organization which operates at the international level and whose the activity is focused on the representation of social interests, such as cooperation in development, protection of nature and the environment, health or rights of man.
