The Alberta Law Foundation funds programs and services that improve Albertans’ knowledge of their legal rights and responsibilities, conduct legal research, propose law reforms, and enable Albertans to effectively exercise their rights under the law.
Together with grantees, they are fulfilling their mission to build a better justice community in Alberta. They accept applications for funding four times per year from charities and other non-profit organizations whose programs and services align with their objects and strategic priorities.
Alberta Law Foundation is an independent non-profit organization. It is not a registered charity. The Foundation receives the interest which banks, credit unions, trust companies, and treasury branches pay on clients' funds held in lawyers' pooled trust accounts. This does not include interest paid on specific trust investments held for individual clients.

Programs and projects funded by the Foundation must address one or more of the objects set out in the Legal Profession Act:
Eligiility Criteria
The applicant must be a non-profit organization, incorporated or organized with a board of directors or equivalent supervisory body.
