As part of PROLoG Sub-purpose 4, PROLoG is pleased to announce a request for proposals (RFP) for nationwide human rights awareness raising campaign that aim to raise the awareness of the general public and vulnerable groups, such as ethnic, religious and sexual minorities and women, on their rights and ways of seeking remedies if needed.

On April 2, 2015, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a five-year Cooperative Agreement to the East-West Management Institute (EWMI), a New York-based not-for-profit organization, to implement a human rights and justice support program entitled Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia (PROLoG) Activity. The purpose of PROLoG is to strengthen the justice system to ensure due process, judicial independence, and the protection of human rights. 

In spring 2020, PROLoG conducted third round of Legal Aid Grant Competition with the aim to identify strategic litigation cases appropriate for promoting the rights of women and marginalized groups, before the courts of common jurisdiction, the Constitutional Court and the European Court for Human Rights. The new grants were awarded to local NGOs who work to increase access to justice for women and marginalized groups by providing legal aid and representation in strategic litigation cases that promote the rights of religious and ethnic minorities, women, children, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups, including the LGBTQ community.

Objectives

These objectives are to be achieved through providing awareness raising activities on the rights of:

• women and girls,
• ethnic and religious minority groups, and/or
• LGBTQ community representatives who are or may become at risk of suffering from discrimination due to gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs or sexual identity.

Funding Information

Grants budget is up to $25,000, with project activities lasting 5-7 months. The applicants are required to provide cost share for the projects equal to 5-10% of the requested funding.

Grant funds may be used for the following:

• Expenses related to the collection of data and evidence;
• Direct costs for project-related events;
• Communication between partner organizations, e.g. phone, fax, e-mail;
• Pro-rated portion of salaries for key participants, e.g. director, accountant;
• Transportation of project participants;
• Purchase of a limited amount of equipment (e.g. fax, computer, software) and stationery;
• Other expenses directly related to project implementation, preparation of PSA, multimedia products (digital and print media), organization of public discussions, campaigns, conferences and etc.

Eligibility Criteria

• An NGO legally registered in Georgia may submit an application on behalf of itself.
• NGOs working with women, LGBTQ, remote regions, and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply.
