The Administration for Community Living is currently seeking applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2021 for the Field Initiated (FI) Projects Program (CFDA 93.433), authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, to carry out either research or development activities.

The purpose of the Field Initiated (FI) Projects program is to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, especially individuals with the most severe disabilities. Another purpose of the FI Projects program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (Act).

• Award Floor: $ 195,000
• Length of Project Period: 36-month project period with three 12-month budget periods

Eligibility Criteria

• Private institutions of higher education
• Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
• Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
• Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
• Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
• For profit organizations other than small businesses
• Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
• Foreign entities are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement.
