Call for Proposals for Innovative Projects from Civil Societies and Coalition of Actors – Kenya

The French Embassy in Nairobi is calling for Proposals for Innovative Projects from Civil Societies and the Coalition of Actors.


The current program named Innovative Projects from Civil Societies and Coalitions of Actors (PISCCA) replaced the FSD and became the main French Embassy tool to support Kenyan civil society organizations.

Within the framework of the PISCCA fund, the French Embassy in Kenya is launching a new call for proposals called Ell’imu for Kenyan civil society organizations. For 2 years (2021-2022), this fund will focus on supporting girls and young women’s education in Kenya in four priority areas:

  • Distance learning and the development of digital skills for girls and young women
  • Sports education for girls/young women
  • Health and hygiene education for girls and young women
  • Vocational and technical training for young women

Funding Information

  • The required financing shall range between 2 650 000 KES and 4 600 000 KES.
  • The duration of the project must be between 6 and 12 months
  • The project must be co-financed by at least 30% of the total cost
  • Between 2001 and 2017, the Social Fund for Development (FSD), subsequently funded more than 119 projects promoted by civil society organizations, for a total amount of 3.2 million euros

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants to the PISCCA fund must be a Kenyan civil society organization (association, non-profit organization, foundations, cooperatives, community based organization, network associations, company limited by guarantee…) registered for at least 3 years by the Kenyan authorities.

  • Each entity can only submit one project.
  • The program encourages synergies, including partnerships and coalitions of actors.
  • Transversal projects that fall under more than one priority area are strongly encouraged as well.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an established record of achievements
  • Applicants must target vulnerable populations as beneficiaries
