UNDP Call for Proposals: Low-Value Grant Projects (Kyrgyz Republic)

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is pleased to announce Call for Proposals and invites non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in the Kyrgyz Republic to submit applications for Low-Value Grant Projects to be implemented.


The Call for Proposals for Low-Value Grant Projects is launched under the project “Stakeholder Engagement for Uranium Legacy Remediation in Central Asia. Phase II ”(hereinafter referred as the Project), funded by the European Union. 

The Strategic Master Plan for reclamation of uranium legacy sites prioritized the sites Mailuu-Suu, Min-Kush, Kadji-Sai, Orlovka, Ak-Tuz, Sumsar and Shekaftar as a pilot which are negatively affected due to their location near radioactive tailings.

The purpose of the implementation of Small Grant Projects is to reduce the negative impact of uranium tailings (former uranium facilities) on socio-economic and environmental aspects life of pilot communities.

Focus Areas

NGOs are encouraged to submit applications with experience of implementing activities in the following areas:

  • environmental protection (pasture management, combating land degradation, research and etc.),
  • development of community infrastructure (repair or restoration works at infrastructure or social facilities, for instance buildings of schools, kindergartens, local hospitals, electricity lines and drinking and irrigation water systems and etc.),
  • healthcare (provision of medical equipment, staff training, research etc.),
  • economic development of the community (job creation, trade promotion, etc.),
  • social protection (for example, groups of people with special needs, women, etc.),
  • raising awareness of potential radiological risks,
  • reduction of the threat of emergency situations.

Funding Information

  • Grant Amount: The total amount of the grant application must not exceed USD 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand US dollars).
  • Duration: implementation period for small grant projects is 1 year from the date of signing the grant agreement.

Eligibility Criteria

NGOs interested in applying for Low-Value Grant Projects should meet the following criteria:

  • Availability of legal documents of the organization (legal registration in the Ministry of Justice of KR);
  • NGO and/its branch working in the pilot communities have the advantage.
  • Work experience in provision of implementing relevant activities in the field mentioned above at least 2 contracts implemented over the past 3 years (provide with descriptions of the work performed and the contact details of the contracting organization);
  • An expertise team to implement the low-value grant projects (organizational structure including title and role is required)
  • Payment of salaries, fee for consulting services of experts, employees of the local self-government bodies and public servant.
  • Miscellaneous administrative expenditures.
  • Procurement of food.
  • Procurement of office equipment.
  • Activity which is contrary to applicable legislation of KR.
