The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) has launched a call for applications for the Development of financial products and services integrated into financial education in the regions of Agadez and Tahoua in Niger.
UNCDF intends to support financial service providers to facilitate access to financial services for DESERT program beneficiaries in first and extend this offer to marginalized populations in the areas covered by the project. The support of UNCDF will allow the development of products adapted and above all accessible in these poorly served areas. The target populations are mainly young people and women who will be supported to facilitate their transition from school to work.
Funding Information
- UNCDF contributions can range from $ 50,000 to $ 250,000 depending on products and services offered. UNCDF may offer a grant for up to two partners selected.
- The DESERT project has an end date of July 31, 2022. The activities should end on later in the first quarter of 2022; ie a period of 12 months. The final report and the evaluation report must be submitted no later than 1 month before the end of the project.
Geographical Scope
The areas of intervention which are known at this stage are:
- Agadez: 1) Department of Tchirozerine - Communes of Tchirozerine (KoriTelwa); 2) Department of Aderbissinat - Municipality of Aderbissinat (Mare de Tchintaborak) and 3) Municipality of Agadez. Zones 1 and 2 target 2,000 beneficiaries; zone 3 targets 600 beneficiaries.
- Tahoua: 1) Department of Abalak - Municipality of Tabalak 2) Department of Birni N'Konni - Municipality of Birni N'Konni 3) Department of Bararoua - Municipality of Bararoua
Eligibility Criteria
- The application must be submitted by a legal entity or by a partnership of entities legal. In the case of a partnership, the leader of the partnership will be responsible from running the project from start to finish. It is up to the leader to guarantee the commitment of its various partners to guarantee the sustainability of the project until his term.
- The principal candidate must have the legal authorization to operate in Niger, in particular for carry out activities related to the granting of loans, the collection of deposits and / or savings, the issuance and / or distribution of electronic money, the provision of services in general and comply with all BCEAO requirements as well than any other competent authority.
