Teach for Romania is looking for those people motivated to contribute to the transformation of society by getting involved in education, starting with the transformation in the classroom, school and community, who seek meaning in their work, have lived or seen inequity and want to contribute to reducing or eliminating it.
You can be an educator, teacher or professor in program, regardless of specialization, graduate studies and psycho-pedagogical mode, these are not eliminatory selection criteria. You will also teach in preschool, primary or secondary education, depending on the needs of the schools in the communities they work with, as well as your preferences and availability for integration into the system.
In the 2020-2021 school year, 94 teachers, participants in program, teach in 83 schools in 20 counties. They are also glad that, out of the community of 136 alumni, graduates of the program, half chose to stay at the department in public schools in Romania, developing and innovating their organizational culture. The entire community of teachers thus reaches about 14,000 children.

Salary and Scholarship
Salary
- Your monthly income will consist of the teacher's salary and the scholarship offered by Teach for Romania. The salary is variable and is obtained starting with September.
- The financial support from the organization is also variable. The scholarship is a fixed minimum amount that each participant receives in the program, to which is added a financial compensation (fixed amount) for those who change their profession to enter the education system, but also a variable bonus, which takes into account the difficulty school context (degree of school disadvantage, commuting distance each day, moving to disadvantaged community, etc.).
- After going through the selection stages, you will discuss with a representative of the organization to understand these calculation formulas and check together the income you can reach.
Scholarship
- Teach for Romania offers a monthly financial support, in the form of a scholarship, both to cover commuting costs to / move to vulnerable communities, but also due to the additional responsibilities incurred by the participants. Upon entering the program, they assume participation in all training conducted during the two years of the program, the use of teaching and assessment methods and tools developed by Teach for Romania, documenting the progress of students and projects developed in school or community, contribution and involvement in the activities of the organization, as well as the development of extracurricular activities aimed at creating learning contexts for students.
Eligibility Criteria
Only candidates who meet ALL the following criteria are eligible for the Teach for Romania program:
- Teach for Romania program represents a commitment of 2 years of involvement as an educator / teacher / teacher in a public, state school, with a degree of disadvantage 1, 2 or 3, with teaching in offline, online or hybrid format;
- Live in one of the communities where they are present or are available for relocation or commuting that can exceed 90 minutes per direction, in order to be able to teach in a school that meets the criteria for Teach for Romania;
- Romanian at an advanced level (communication and writing) and English at B1 level;
- Teach for Romania program does not involve volunteering, but involves a full-time job;
- There are 6 consecutive weeks available for participation in the Academy of Leadership and Pedagogy, the initial training offered to participants in the program, during July-August 2021, which will take place in online or hybrid format;
- They are medically fit for enrollment in the education system and can be proved later by a medical certificate;
- They have a bachelor's degree / will have a bachelor's degree no later than July 2021 or have completed a pedagogical high school;
- The next 2 years their income will consist of the teacher's salary and the financial support offered by Teach for Romania;
- Have a history related to any violation of rights and freedoms of children, not abused (physically, emotionally, psychologically, sexually and economically according to Law no. 272/2004, Section 3, Art. 94) no children and may provide criminal records upon request.
