The EEA and Norwegian grants has announced a call for applications for Reduction of Risks Related to Historically Contaminated Territories.
EEA and Norwegian grants support the remediation of historically contaminated sites in order to improve the quality of soil, ground, groundwater or surface water, restore and improve the quality of the environment in and around contaminated sites, and prevent threats to human health and the environment.

The open tender will support projects for the remediation of historically contaminated sites where the polluter pays principle cannot be applied because the person responsible for the pollution no longer exists and there is no direct successor to such a person and the state or municipal authorities could not. prevent such pollution. In addition to remediation work, the project must include a public awareness campaign that includes at least two information events on current environmental and climate issues.
Eligibility Criteria
In an open tender, a project application may be submitted by a local government, a direct or indirect administrative institution, a port authority or a special economic zone authority in charge of a port. Each project applicant may submit only one project application.
