CFPBMC inviting Letters of Intent for Summer Grants Program - U.S.

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties (CFPBMC) is inviting letters of intent (LOI), in order to better support nonprofits with summer programs.

As one of Florida’s largest community foundations, the Community Foundation works for Palm Beach and Martin Counties in multiple ways, playing multiple roles. For donors, the Foundation offers an effective way to manage giving by providing expert philanthropic advice rooted in a deep knowledge of our community and an array of philanthropic vehicles and services.

For the community, the Foundation serves as a grantmaker and a civic leader and awards grants to the region’s nonprofits to help meet community needs, fulfill donors’ philanthropic wishes and strengthen the nonprofit sector. Using local knowledge, networks, influence, and creativity, the Foundation brings people together to improve the community’s quality of life now and in the future.

Priority Areas

Each year, the Foundation award over a million dollars in grants focusing on three priority areas:

  • Community Revitalization: Support to those who are enhancing communities by making them safe, vibrant, clean, and green. This includes programs or projects that are improving communities physically, socially, or economically.
  • Post-Secondary and Career Pathways: Supplemental support outside the normal school day, additional support for first-generation students entering college, vocational programs, and workforce development programs leading to education beyond a high school diploma.
  • Positive Youth Development: Support for an intentional, pro-social approach that engages youth with their communities. We want to recognize and build upon a youths strengths, foster positive relationships, and build their leadership potential.

Funding Information

  • Mini Grants of $500-$10,000
  • Community Impact Grants of $10,001-$55,000
  • Application and reporting requirements will reflect the size of the grant. The Foundation suggests mini-grants for organizations that are newly established or have an annual budget of $250,000 or less.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Foundation will consider requests from charitable organizations that are tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3) organization and public charities under IRS Section 509 (a). Organizations operating under a fiscal sponsor with tax exempt status under IRS Section 501(c)(3) may also be considered.
  • The Foundation will only consider requests from organizations located within Palm Beach and Martin Counties or that directly benefit residents of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
  • The Foundation will not consider competitive grant requests for any of the following:
    • annual appeal
    • capital campaigns or capital projects
    • deficit financing
    • for-profit, parochial, charter, private, or individual public schools
    • fundraising event
    • open space purchase
    • nonprofit endowments
    • requests for a specific individual
    • requests to support religious or political causes, or to organizations organized for religious or political purposes
