Department of Justice announces Victims of Crime 2021 Funding Call - Ireland

The Department of Justice is inviting applications for funding from registered charities, voluntary community groups and other bodies which provide or have proposals for the provision of Support services/assistance for victims of crime generally, including provision of support, information and advice on the rights of victims, and court and other accompaniment.

The objective is to ensure that these services are available to all victims who need them, to a consistently high standard and throughout the State.

Funding Overview

  • Your application should set out how you ensure a high standard service for victims, including:
    • your internal training and induction procedures for staff and volunteers,
    • internal governance and oversight arrangements in relation to risk assessment, vetting of staff and volunteers for work with vulnerable adults and children as may be appropriate
    • systems for onward referral to other services as may be required, and
    • support and professional development provision for staff and volunteers.
  • The Department is putting arrangements in place separately to develop a training and accreditation framework for staff and volunteers. The framework will include formal training elements (to include understanding of the victim’s perspective, trauma induced behaviour, risk assessment, self-care) and recognition of prior experience in this work. Further details will be announced in due course.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications are invited from NGOs who work with victims to provide the services.
  • Applications for funding must be civil society organisations and preferably a registered charity. Joint applications between two or more groups would be welcome.
