The Edward Gostling Foundation's Grant Program - United Kingdom

The Edward Gostling Foundation is seeking applications to provide grants to other charities that are registered and regulated by a UK Charity Commission with the aim of enhancing the quality of life of people in need and, particularly, those on a low income and who have a physical and/or mental disability or long-term illness.

The charities they support are all specialists with the expertise and resources required to provide support to vulnerable members of society living with a disability or long-term illness. Through the charity partnerships they are better able to target the limited resources and ensure that they are reaching as many vulnerable people as they possibly can.

At The Edward Gostling Foundation, they believe that people living with a physical and/or mental disability or a long-term illness should have, as many as possible, of the same choices, quality of life opportunities and aspirations as others more fortunate than themselves. The priority is to provide financial support that enables one or more of the 4 life "themes" to be met. In summary the themes and, therefore, priorities are:-

  • Health & Wellbeing - supporting access to community facilities to maintain, improve and enhance general welfare
  • Independent Living at Home - helping people to live independently in their own home for as long as possible
  • Respite - enabling carers to take a break from the responsibility of caring for a loved one
  • Transition - supporting people beyond education and into employment, long-term volunteering or other meaningful daytime activity, housing and independent living

Funding Information

The Foundation does not set a limit and each project is considered on a case by case basis. Very large grants are the exception however and most of the awards are under £15,000. All charities that make applications for £10,000 or more may be visited as part of the due diligence.

Geographical Focus

There are no geographical restrictions in the UK for the funding.

Eligibility Criteria

The Foundation only accept applications from charities with a proven track record that have been registered with a UK Charity Commission for at least 3 years and can provide a minimum of 2 full years of accounts.
