The Journey
From individual effort to being incorporated as Non-Governmental Organisation, the Cradle has served the humankind, particularly the persons with disabilities and elders. With philanthropic support of its members and institutions including UN agencies, The Cradle has been able perform notable activities, such as-
Award of Merit Scholarship (500 beneficiaries on regular basis @ Rs 500/month) since 2009 Celebrated ‘ UN International Day of Old Persons 2014, with technical and financial support of WHO-SEARO.
Celebrated ‘UN International Day of Old Persons 2014, with technical and financial support of WHO-SEARO.
Celebrated‘UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 2014,with technical and financial support of WHO-SEARO.
Piloted ‘Age-Friendly City Indicator Guide’ in 2015, a global initiative by WHO Kobe Centre, Japan, for fixing the guidelines for making cities of developing countries age-friendly.
Participated in ‘Pilot Site Meeting of Age-Friendly City Indicators Guide’ 2015, at WHO HQ, Geneva, organised by WHO Kobe Centre Japan. Two of its recommendations- emergency response mechanism and involvement of media for highlighting the ageing issues -were incorporated in the Guide Framework.
Organised ‘ Miracles on Wheels’ 2015 a globally acclaimed and Guinness record holder dance performances on wheelchairs and crutches by physically challenged youth, as a showcase of their spirit and abilities before the UN agencies and diplomats of various countries as a part of UN’s Young@70 Programme.The programme was supported by United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and ICUNR (Indian Council for UN Relations).
Pioneered and Participated in ‘WHO Regional Workshop for National Managers for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities’ 2015, at Paro, Bhutan, organised by WHO SEARO
Participated ‘WHO Consultation on Global Strategy and Action Plan on Ageing and Health’ 2015 at WHO HQ, Geneva, organised by WHO.
Celebrated‘UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 2015, with technical and financial support of WHO-SEARO, UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan and International Labour Organisation.
Participated on invitation in ‘WHO-GATE Global Survey to Identify the Top 50 Priority Assistive Products’ 2016, organised by WHO.
