Age Friendly City Indicator Guide

Age Friendly City Indicator Guide

11-12 June 2015, New Delhi

Trust Cradle in collaboration with WHO SEARO had executed a research to collect and collate the core data for Age- Friendly City Indicator Guide. The proposed site for this research was the city of Delhi, the National Capital of India with the help of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

The growth of older population in urban places has been phenomenally increasing since Independence. But the urban environment including infrastructure was not improving in same speed. Which resulted in overcrowding, narrow pathways, inadequate greenery, less open spaces and less healthy environment etc.

The research helped in providing a strategic and logical tool for the town planners and policy makers of India for creating an urban environment and infrastructure accessible for all, particularly elders.

The research was based on several stages which included:

  • Review of Guidelines
  • Collection of NDMC Policies
  • Preparation of Questionnaire
  • Filed Interviews
  • Group Discussions
  • Data Analysis
  • Report Generation (Hindi and English Language)
